Hi I’m Joanna, photographer for over 15 years based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada! I’ve had a camera in my hands since I was 8 years old and it’s never left my side since. As an engineer-in-training turned full-time wedding photographer, I know what it’s like juggling a full-time commitment like school or work with a side-hustle like photography. If you’re in the beginning stages of your business I’m here to help you expedite the process!

What sets my mentorship and coaching sessions apart is the thoughtful preparation and research I do before our session.

You fill out a questionnaire prior to our video call or in-person meeting so that our time is maximized by tailoring the lessons to your unique needs and interests.
I can accommodate to be as technical as needed.
Everyone has strengths and weaknesses, so we will identify these and I’ll provide personalized support to help you succeed.
You receive a PDF with all of the info so you don't have to focus on taking notes the whole time, and you can truly engage and ask questions.

Ideal for photographers struggling to achieve consistent edits and need to create an editing workflow. If Lightroom is intimidating, this one is for you!
We will work though:
- identifying your ideal editing style & showing you how to get the edit that you want
- editing through 5 of your RAW images
- helping you create your own editing workflow to make it as easy as possible
- Lightroom tips & tricks

Social Media Audit & Strategy

This session is for anyone struggling to grow on social media and market themselves effectively.
This session covers and includes:
- understanding the unique markets of Instagram, Facebook & Pinterest
- creating an actionable social media plan
- an extensive list of post/caption ideas

Ideal for established photographers wanting to solidify their marketing, brand & website to attract their ideal client.

- an extensive list of marketing channels: choosing 1-2 platforms and diving into them

What makes you credible to teach about these things?

I credit my success as a full-time photographer to my passion in business and marketing. I’ve held numerous roles as a lead marketing specialist for start-ups and post-secondary institutions and my own business is the proof to all my learnings.

My engineering education background made me frustrated with certain educators who lacked providing actionable steps in their teachings. I’m someone who likes having a list of steps I can take to achieve the results I want, and so I provide that experience through my mentorships.

I decided to share my knowledge around photography when I noticed my unique perspective as a second generation immigrant with no creative connections build an artistic career from nothing in the province of oil & gas. The photography industry felt distant, unrelatable and monotone. I hope that I can help newer photographers overcome hurdles through comprehensive and concise resources to create art that sets their heart on fire.
